I think Maycomb is a lot like Cascade. They both have a tight connection with the people. By saying that I mean that everybody knows everybody. Maybe this is more true to Maycomb than Cascade because Maycomb is a little bit smaller. They are alike because social structure is a lot a like. You have your gossip spreaders, your wealthy, your Sunday mass people, your countryside farmers, and your somewhat lower class people in both towns. I think Maycomb and Cascade are different because they are in different times. I also think they are different because Maycomb has more of a government look than Cascade.
Cascade and Maycomb seem to be about the same. They are both small towns, Maycomb may be even smaller than cascade. One difference between cascade and Maycomb are the people. We don't have as many African Americans. We don't have a "Towns square" or courthouse in the center of cascade.
The area where we live in and Maycomb are alike in so many ways. First and foremost, they are both small towns with a small population. Second, the people in Maycomb know everybody's business. Its really annoying actually, because the people in this area knows everybody's business as well. The people of Cascade are very nosy in wanting to know what people are up to, what they got, job they have, where they went, etc. Then people gossip, judge, and sometimes spread rumors. Maycomb seems like a place of judging and gossiping as well. I know this, because if the Tom Robinson scene. The difference between this area and Maycomb, is people seem even closer in the book, then people her. In Cascade, we do know everybody, and are close to many people, but in the book it just seems closer to me. The set up of our town and Maycomb are different and similar. We have a few neighborhoods on each side of town, and in the book, they have, it seems like just one neighborhood. In Cascade we don't have a town square, but we do have downtown and the city hall which is similar in some ways. I would not like to live in Maycomb, because of how small the population and town is.
Maycomb is like Cascade in many ways. Everyone knows everyone in both of these towns, never in the book does someone ask "who are you?", and hardly anyone in cascade asks that either. Last name associations are made in Cascade too. Trumms and Kneppers are two common last names here, but unlike Maycomb, everyone has a different reaction to each last name. From the view of a little kid they are even more the same. There is the old house surrounded by unbelievable scary stories, too crazy to actually be true, but nevertheless, you didn't go near them. They're also the houses that had the mean people inside of them that would yell at you if you tried to play tag or hide and seek in their lawn. One way Maycomb is different from Cascade is the "town hero" in Atticus Finch. I think that the last truly good hero we had here was Steve Ledium. He was someone that everyone honored and respected. Right now, however Cascade does not have its own Atticus Finch.
Maycomb can be a lot like Cascade at times. With it being a small town and how close people are with one another, the similarities are definitely there. In a way though, they are very different. Maycomb seems to be so small that people know other people to the extreme. As in they are judged by there last name. In Cascade, that does happen occasionally, but not as often as Maycomb. People in Maycomb seem to be a lot nicer to each other as well. Given, people in Cascade are extremely nice, but the people of Maycomb take it up a notch. The way they talk to one another, the way they offer help or refuge, or even the way they help each other just shows how Maycomb is a nice, welcoming environment.
Well one way they are alike is that everyone knows eachother's business, and in both towns last name carries a lot of weight. One way I feel they are different is I feel Cascade is just a bit more interactive with the community, we have more festivals and town days, that there is a lot more stuff to do in Cascade than Maycomb, and the people are nicer in Cascade. Both towns are actually a lot alike in the social aspect.
Cascade and Maycomb share some similarities because they are both very small towns. The Maycomb community is a lot like the Cascade area because the people of Maycomb group together and judge others in the town. Solely based on gossip, rumors, and usually on someone else's opinion. When the town doesn't like a person or family they begin to name call and/or shun them. Like the Finch family, the community of Maycomb disapproves of Atticus's decision to defend Tom Robinson. Another way Maycomb is similar to Cascade is it's hard to keep anything a secret or keep your business only your business. With small towns come nosey people. Atticus didn't even get to tell his own kids about taking the Robinson case before kids at school or neighbors started pestering Scout and Jem about it. Cascade as well as Maycomb have old money families where they are considered higher in the society. Maycomb and Cascade have their differences as well. Cascade doesn't have a town square at the base of our town. Cascade is more agriculturally based. Cascade has a lot of farmers. Where as in Maycomb, we don't really hear about the farmers. Cascade doesn't have very many African Americans like Maycomb does. Maybe that's just because Maycomb is in the South during the civil rights era and Cascade is in the Midwest which is farther North.
Maycomb is a lot like Cascade in many ways, it's a small town with not that many people where everyone knows everyone's business. But Maycomb has more mysteries such as the Radley house. Maycomb has a lot more poor people, like the Cunninghams that can't even except money because they know that they can't pay anyone back, and teachers get mad when kids know how to read before anyone else in the class does. As kids even though we didn't really have any abandoned houses we would still explore and have stories about hidden caves and exploring in the woods. In both towns people are very judgmental but Maycomb is where the mean people are.
There are several comparisons with Maycomb and Cascade. The towns are both small and everybody knows everyone, mostly. I don't like how small Cascade is because people gossip and spread rumors. Everybody knows everyone and rumors spread fast. Cascade has neighborhoods all around just like Maycomb. There are some creepy houses where nobody likes to walk past, same as the Radley's. Cascade and Maycomb both have families with different colored skin.
Cascade and Maycomb have some differences also. Cascade doesn't really have any lawyers or a court house. Cascade does have a city hall and a downtown. If you look at a map of Maycomb and Cascade, Cascade is larger than Maycomb. Cascade is in the Midwest and Maycomb is an old southern town. In Maycomb, wealthy families have black housekeepers or maids. Blacks would work for the white families. Whites and blacks do not get along at all. In Cascade we aren't racist. We don't have black people working for us getting little pay. In Cascade the people are equal. In Maycomb the blacks aren't equal.
Maycomb and Cascade and Bernard are alike because they are all small towns and the people that live in the towns know almost everybody else that lives there. Cascade is a little different than Maycomb because it doesn't have a town square at all and the way the streets are different to. In Maycomb and Cascade everybody that lives there knows all the business that are there and all the stores. They are also alike because in Maycomb and Cascade everyone knows your last name because there are families with the same last names in the towns.
I think that Maycomb and the Cascade area are a lot alike in many ways. The way families perceive and act with each other are a lot like families in Cascade. We all know what kid belongs to what family and we know this by the way they act or look. In the novel, If you're very poor but wont take what you cannot give back, the town will know you're a Cunningham, but if you show up to school on the first day with no shoes on, bugs crawling out of your hair and only come to class the first day, everyone will know you're a Ewell. Cascade/Bernard area and Maycomb also relate because of the size. The towns are very small and news gets around very quickly. Everyone knows who's expecting, who's engaged and who's kid is involved in all of the trouble. Cascade is also a big town full of gossip. You can find many older women and men at a cafe or restaurant talking each others ears off about whatever gossip they can think of.
Maycomb can also be different for reasons too. An obvious difference would be that the town of Maycomb described in the novel was set in the 1930's. Since it's 2017 there will be many differences. First off, all races and genders are equal. there isn't a pyramid of social levels where African Americans are at the bottom. Nobody really has more "power" over each other. I think that there are many different families with different amounts of money, races and beliefs but that shouldn't make a difference. Maycomb can be a lot like Cascade, but with a couple big differences.
I think Maycomb and Cascade have a few similarities but overall are very different. They are both small country towns filled with people who know all of the other residents. I think the two towns are different in the way people are treated. I'd like to believe that Cascade isn't filled with racism and that everyone here is treated equally. I think Maycomb and Cascade are different because of obvious reasons, but if we were living in Cascade in the time of the book, I think these towns would be way more similar.
In the novel, the main town Maycomb is similar to Cascade. In both towns there are the last names everyone knows. Each name has its own reputation. The community knows everyone's job, personality, family, what you're up to, and where you live. Almost everyone knows everyone in Cascade and Maycomb. In Cascade one cannot even drive through main street without someone waving to you over their steering wheel. Just like the Radley's house, there is always that one house down the street that has creepy vibes. Also, in both Cascade and Maycomb there's that one mean elderly neighbor that children try to avoid, just like Ms. Dubose.
These two towns are very similar some ways. In Cascade everyone knows everyone and like to be kind to the new ones who come live here. This same situation happens in Maycomb, everybody know who everyone is. In Maycomb a lot of people know each other by last names, or family history. In Cascade the same thing is done, families are known for their last names or family history. In these two towns both have many people that appreciate the families who have done a lot of work in order to bring the town upwards. The only difference between these two towns is that Cascade doesn't have town square. Maycomb was formed in order to have the town square in the middle, but Cascade never had one. Equality is the biggest difference between these two towns. In Maycomb the colored people are treated way way differently. In Cascade anyone is the same, from being whatever race you are, here in Cascade you are treated equally.
Maycomb and Cascade are quite similar towns. They both are small country towns, and everybody knows everyone. There is lots of gossip, and in both towns it seems like everybody is related to each other. I think Maycomb is a little more built around farming though, and Cascade is more of an industrial town. I think they are similar because there are some very racist people in both towns. These are two towns in two different time periods though, and I think Cascade is definitely the more civilized of the two.
Maycomb and Cascade are very much a like. They are both very small communities where everyone knows each other. Like Cascade, Maycomb also has a lot of rumors and gossip. Though this story takes place in a different time period, the cultures are a lot different from each other, Cascade is more modern and Maycomb is old-fashion. The way people act in Maycomb is similar but different from Cascade. Like Maycomb people in Cascade spread lots of rumors and are very cliquey. However Cascade does not have much racism as Maycomb does. The two towns are very similar, being an agricultural based town. Cascade does have more opportunities other than agriculture unlike Maycomb. All in all the two towns are very much a like and have a lot of similar characteristics.
Maycomb reminds me a lot of Cascade; because I am not originally from here, I have a different perspective of the social ways of the community. Both towns are small communities heavily reliant on the agricultural industry. Cascade is a tight knit community, everyone seems to know every detail, good or bad, about their neighbors' lives. It doesn't take long for rumors to start, spread, and morph until they are more fantasy than fact. It is also very evident who the "it" families are here and in Maycomb. There are certain family names that instantly trigger an, "Oh, yeah I know their parents! What a great family!" before you have even been acquainted with the said individual. On the flip-side, it isn't hard to make a negative assumption of someone who comes from a family whose name is not held with the same pride or widespread respect. I notice teachers and friends jumping to conclusions about my sisters simply because they are related to me. Whether we like it or not, there are definitely families in our little community who are, for an array of different reasons, held up or brought down. Of course the racial discrimination in Maycomb is something we could not even fathom in Cascade, but I think we are similar in the fact that we do hold prejudices, even some based on ethnicity or heritage. I think we are similar in that everyone looks out for each other, especially looking out for each other's children. I remember when I first moved here how different it was to be able to cross the streets independently or to run around the neighborhood from one house to the next without my mom hounding me every other second. It was different because my parents had confidence that each person had my best interests at heart. It is very liberating to not have to worry about your safety in your own home or neighborhood because of the deep trust you have with the people surrounding you. I like to think of Maycomb and Cascade as sister cities that were seperated at birth and one just grew up faster than the other.
I believe Bernard and Maycomb have a lot of similarities in common. Bernard is a small town with a postal office just like Maycomb. They both have few people that live in the town itself, but have farmers that live outside of town. When I read about Maycomb I tend to think about Bernard because of the small town setting. In Maycomb everyone knows everyone just like they do in Bernard. In Bernard you cannot walk down a street without someone having a conversation with you and this happens in Maycomb. The only big difference I see within the two towns is the difference in how African Americans are treated. In Maycomb, African Americans are segregated. They have separate churches and never were seen out an about much. In Bernard, there are not many people of different color, but the people of Bernard treat them the same as everyone else.
Maycomb and Cascade have many similarities. One way to connect the two towns is looking at the Finch family and how people judge others based on rumors and thoughts about them. The people in Cascade do the same, many find it difficult in Cascade to keep ones business to them selves because rumors spread so easily. Maycombs' residents remind me of Cascade's because people get up in others' business, a rumor is spread, and the person in the rumor is shunned from the community. I say shunned because the person feels that they can't go in public because just the eyes of one person starring that them reminds them of one little rumor. All of this comes together with people thinking they know each other, people in both towns are accused of knowing others. Ms. Dubose thought she knew the Finch children, but she really didn't. People in the town get judged of family members actions. The Radley's, Finch's, and Cunningham's all are judged either by a bother, father, or a son. It happens in Cascade all the time. People stereotype parents' children, in Cascade, expecting them the grow up like their parents'. I can see why the Finch children are getting frustrated or Atticus getting frustrated with the way people are treating his children. Maycomb also has differences to the town of Cascade, through the lay out of the town or people. Maycomb has a town square and Cascade doesn't. Cascade is more agricultural based, where's Maycomb, we hear nothing about the farmers. There is also a large time gap, Maycomb is set in the 1930's, when Cascade is now. There is also a gender difference, women act and are treated better today.
Maycomb and Cascade are similar in many ways, but they are also different. They are both small towns with a community where everyone knows each other. Family names are known for certain things in both towns. Cascade and Maycomb are nice little towns with friendly faces that greet everyone. The people of Maycomb and Cascade share the fact that people are familiar with their neighbors. Sometimes there is that one different house similar to the Radley's or mean old lady, similar to Mrs. Dubose. The neighborhood is close to each other and always know what is going on in the other person's life. Rumors spread quickly as well as what is new in town.
The two communities also have their contrasts. The towns are obviously different because of the time period and location of Cascade being in Iowa and Maycomb in Alabama. While the town of Maycomb has a courthouse, Cascade has a city hall. Cascade is a larger community and has more opportunities for those living there. The people of Maycomb do not treat blacks fairly. Many blacks worked as house maids for whites and were paid less than a white. During the time, in Maycomb the blacks were segregated from the whites. The blacks were looked down on and were of the lowest class rank. It was considered strange and disrespectful to put a black before a white for any matter in Maycomb. Cascade has very little racism compared to Maycomb. The people in Cascade are treated with more respect no matter their color.
Maycomb and Cascade are similar because they are both small towns with agricultural backgrounds. In Cascade everybody knows everyone else.In Cascade and Maycomb your last name carries a reputation regardless of whether people know you or not.People talk about you and judge you and often your business is also everyone else's business. Because of the time gap Cascade does not struggle with discrimination like Maycomb does. However there are certain people in our town that treat people of different ethnic backgrounds differently. The children's fascination with Boo Radley is very similar to the people in Cascade today who are very nosy and concerned with what everyone else is doing. The two towns are different because Cascade is bigger than Maycomb and more people have jobs so the way of life is not as laid back. Cascade and Maycomb have many things in common.
I believe that Maycomb and Cascade are similar in many ways. They are both small towns where everyone seems to really know everyone. I think there are some of the different social classes in not only Maycomb, but in Cascade too (Poor respected, rich, poor that aren't respected). There are small neighborhoods inside each of the cities that have kids in them. There are also those mysterious houses and people that the kids are afraid of.
There are also a few differences between the towns. Maycomb has a town square, where Cascade just has a main street. Maycomb has a courthouse where Cascade does not.
Maycomb and Cascade have many similarities as well as differences. They are both a small community where everyone knows everyone. Both towns have friendly faces as well as grumpy faces. They are similar because they are both agriculturally based towns. Just like any other town, news, gossip, and rumors spread quickly and you are judged by your last name even if you don't know everyone. There are also some differences. Maycomb has a town square while Cascade has a City Hall. Cascade is also bigger than Maycomb and has many job opportunities. Compared to Maycomb, Cascade has little racism. They re also different because it is different time periods.
Maycomb and Cascade have quite a few similarities and differences. For starters, they both aren't that big, and have small neighborhoods as well. They are completely different because of where they are. Maycomb is in Alabama, while Cascade is in Iowa. Based on the looks, Maycomb is more of a square that leads off into streets that contain housing. Cascade is more of a spread out town, with housing everywhere.
Maycomb and Cascade have few similarities. One similarity is the town size; they're both small towns, mostly filled with friendly people. Another similarity is how well everyone knows each other. One last similarity is that both towns contain farms, big or small. Along with similarities, there are differences. One difference is that Maycomb has a town square instead of a city hall, which is more common. Another difference would be the court house. Maycomb has a courthouse in the middle of the town square.
I feel that Maycomb and cascade are more similar to each other than they are different. Both Maycomb and Cascade are very small towns. In both towns there are families known for their money, and there are those who are known for being more on the poor side. Also, everyone knows everyone in town. Along with that, everyone knowds everyone else's business in town. One difference between Maycomb and Cascade is that maycomb is described as more run down or "unfinished." The roads in Maycomb are not paved, but simply made of dirt. In Cascade, our town's roads are for the most part paved until you get farther outside of town. Maycomb is also the county seat, and Cascade is not. Maycomb is in southern Alabama while Cascade is in eastern Iowa. There is also less racial discrimination in Cascade than there is in Maycomb.
Maycomb and Cascade are similar and different in many ways. They are similar because they are both small towns and everyone mostly knows everyone. Their is drama in both towns sense they are so small and things spread quickly. People are very nosy in both towns and they like to know everything about everyone. The differences are that the teachers enjoy when a kid already knows how to do something and they encourage them to keep doing it. Maycomb is a very poor town while Cascade only has little poor. Maycomb as a courthouse and Cascade does not. Maycomb has a town square but we have a main street.
In many ways Maycomb and Cascade have many similarities as long with some differences. Maycomb is a small town, as is Cascade, where everyone knows who you are, what you'r doing, and where you'r from. Like wise in Cascade and Maycomb news travels very quickly and nothing goes unseen. In both of these towns they have town halls and Little subdivisions out side of the main part of town. Also Maycomb as well as Cascade have a farming based economy. Although Cascade and Maycomb have many things in common they also have many things that are different. For example Maycomb is an old town that has a very small opportunity for jobs unlike Cascade who has many choices for the work force to chose from. Another extreme difference is the belief on racism. In Maycomb people are very racist but in Cascade there is very little racism.
Maycomb and Bernard are very similar, they both close-nit towns where everyone knows everyone. Like the Finch farm families have been passing down land for generations upon generations. In Mycomb the Radley House is the center of all the "scary" stories in town and when I was growing up it the scary stories were based off of the apartment building across the street the from the fire station. Bernard has a small residential area in town but stretches far with all the land and farmers. A large contrast between the two town are women aren't below the men, if you go to Bernard the women there can give any man a run for their money. Also there isn't the discrimination factor, although it is a different time period everyone in town is treated fair and equal.
Maycomb and Cascade have a teeming amount of similarities. Cascade has a similar infrastructure to Maycomb, with the court house being near the center of town. All the other businesses are near the court house just like Maycomb. They also have similar people and everyone knows everything about each other. They do have their differences and more so based on the placement of the schools. Maycombs school is located toward the outskirts of town while our school is towards the center. We also don't have anyone extremely weird and mysterious like Boo Radley. Unlike Maycomb we do not have a major court case going on and there seems to be little tension between the people of Cascade.
Maycomb and Cascade are alike and different in many ways. They both are small towns with a close community. In both towns, everybody seems to know anything and everything about each other. You can't expect to stop and get gas or something to eat anywhere in the town without being stopped by someone that wants to chat. Each town also has reputations of family names. At school, for example, Scout described Burris to Miss. Caroline strictly based off of judgments about the Ewell family name.
The two towns also have their differences. I think the biggest difference is the aspect of racial discrimination. Cascade has very little of it, especially compared to Maycomb. Cascade also is a bit bigger than Maycomb and has a wider variety of businesses.
Maycomb is in many ways a lot like Cascade. I grew up in Cascade and have realized it is almost secluded from other towns just like Maycomb is. Maycomb is off a ways from boat transportation that led to the town staying secluded and the same size for years. Families married the same families and everyone became to look alike. That isn't exactly how it is here in Cascade, but the bigger families and everyone living in Cascade is related somehow unless they are an outsider that moved here for god knows what reason. If you look closely you can tell who is closely related to one another. Also, there are many kids here that have a particular tick that they bounce their leg up and down just to be moving in some way. Certain families have certain characteristics such as their hair color or their attitude. You can tell who has been brought up working and who has never worked a day in their life. We have families here in Cascade that are respected and have had certain land for as long as anyone can remember just like in Maycomb. Cascade and Maycomb are more alike than different.
I find the small town of Maycomb to be quite similar to Cascade. For one, they are both small, quiet towns that haven't grown much over time. I can also name many or am familiar with most of the people in Cascade as the same goes for Scout or Jem of the people in Maycomb. Harper Lee describes some of the jobs people have in her novel. She mentions agricultural based jobs which relates to the economy of Cascade. The people of Cascade seem to be a majority of Catholics which also seems to be the case with Maycomb because they attend Sunday mass. A key difference I noted was how Maycomb is obsessing over a court case when in Cascade, we don't even have a court house. Another trait I found obvious was that the racism and segregation in Maycomb would not be found here in Cascade. Finally, a difference I spotted was that kids and teachers work together to learn and grow in Cascade unlike how in Maycomb Scout is being hindered of her learning.
In my opinion, Maycomb and Cascade have many similarities and very few differences. One huge similarity is that Maycomb and Cascade are both very small. In Mycomb, there is really only one street for residential living, and in Cascade, it is nearly the same. There are only about 4 large neighborhoods in Cascade. Another similarity is that everyone knows everyone. This can have its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that you always feel welcome. It seems as if I am always waving to people or striking up conversations with people I may not even know that well, just like Scout and Jem in the novel. A disadvantage is that news spreads quickly. Within a day, everyone might know that you are expecting, even if you didn't want everyone to know. As you can see, Maycomb and Cascade are very similar mainly due to their size. Although Maycomb and Cascade are similar, they do have a couple differences. One of them being segregation. I know this was all over the country in the 1930's, but it is a huge difference between the two towns. In Cascade, there isn't a separate church for blacks like there is in Maycomb. Also, it's ok to associate with black people in Cascade, while it's frowned upon in Maycomb. Another difference is the amount of sports and activities we have in Cascade. In the novel, it doesn't say anything about any sports, but in Cascade, sports are a vital part of this town as they bring our community together. Cascade and Maycomb have their similarities and differences, but I believe the most important aspect is that they are both very small towns which contain great people.
Cascade and the town of Maycomb have many similarities. The first one is them both being a small town with little to no changes over the years. Another similarity is everyone knowing each other. Word travels fast in these small towns and your secrets are everyone's secrets. In the book, readers learn that Maycomb is an agricultural based economy just like Cascade is. You have your rich farmers who's name is known by everyone and then the small family driven farms. Maycomb and Cascade share few differences, one of them being their view on racial equality. Back then, white people were the dominant race and everything else was below them. For example, Scout's dad is defending Tom Robinson (a black man) and the towns people start to talk poorly of him. In Cascade we have a diverse population of races. The town accepts anyone and doesn't discriminate against the color of a person's skin.
There are many things that are similar between Maycomb and Cascade. The first one is that they are both really small towns. Another similarity is that both towns are big in to agriculture. Many people in both towns judge you based off of your last name. Everybody in these towns knows each other and they all like to spread gossip around. One of the main differences is that Maycomb is very racist and Cascade is not that racist to people. Another differences is Maycomb does not have any sports teams and in Cascade sports are a big part to us.
Cascade and Maycomb are very similar. They are both small towns where everybody knows one another. I know many adults in Cascade, and the ones I don't know seem to know me. Life in both Maycomb and Cascade is simple and easy going. People in Cascade live here and work and raise a family in a very good environment just like Maycomb. Everyone gets a long for the most part and people who live here can have very good lives. Also both Cascade and Maycomb have had racial discrimination. In Maycomb, the segregation was between Blacks and Whites. In Cascade, the segregation was between Irish and Germans. They went to different churches, just like Blacks and Whites in Maycomb. Segregation in Cascade was so bad there was at one point a wall in the cemetery to separate where the Irish were buried and where the Germans are buried. Also Cascade does not have a courthouse. The fact that Maycomb has a courthouse may be because it is the largest town in the county. Cascade is a small town in comparison to Dubuque where our courthouse is.
The town of may-comb Alabama and cascade are very slimier and very different because of the times for example, as racism is a big thing in May-comb there is still probably still racism in cascade but diverted from African Americans to Mexican Americans. They are both small towns in the middle of now ware that most people do not know about. One major difference is a thing called the great depression which was something that cascade almost had to probably go through when the bush administration was in place but either than that, we had not gone through a great depression before. In conclusion the town of Cascade and the town of May-comb have way more similarity's than differences.
Cascade and Maycomb are similar because Maycomb is just about as small as Cascade. I haven't lived in cascade for a long time only a year, but i concluded that Cascade once used to be really segregated just as maycomb is. Also both of the small towns have farms which they thrive off of. One think i do know since i moved to Cascade is that they are really big about farming. I concluded that they are different because Cascade isn't as segregated as Maycomb is now.
Cascade and Maycomb are very similar towns in that they are both very small. Everyone seems to know everyone else's business, as you'll have in a town where everyone knows each other. Cascade, however, isn't as separated between races as Maycomb. There are different parts of town where certain people choose to live, but they separate themselves by choice rather than force. Cascade still experiences racism, but nowhere near the level of a southern state when segregation was still national law.
Cascade and Maycomb are very alike. Everyone seems to know each other. They are both vey small and agriculture is a very big thing to both towns. Maycomb experiences severe racism, as to in Cascade I don't see much racism.
I feel like Maycomb are very alike is many ways. Everyone seems to get alone and know each other. They are both really small towns but Cascade isn't racist and Cascade isn't separated like blacks or whites. These two towns Cascade and Maycomb very rarely change. Also everyone knows each others business and has to be in the drama.
Cascade and Maycomb are very similar in many aspects. For example, they are both out in the country surrounded by miles of land. Cascade and Maycomb both have a socially integrated society where everyone knows everyone. But the time and setting, of course, are quite different. Seeing as how Maycomb (in the book's setting) is a town set in the 1930's and Cascade is a present day town.
Cascade and Bernard are a lot alike because everyone knows everyone in Bernard and a lot of the people in Bernard believe strongly in a certain thing and its hard to change peoples ways of thinking. On the other hand the people of Bernard are very welcoming compared to that of Maycomb. We welcome people no matter what skin color or religion. So in conclusion they are more alike than different.
Cascade and Maycomb are very similar, yet also very different. In both places everybody knows everybody. In Maycomb there are many rumors about a shut in boy, where as in Cascade there really is not one person that nobody has seen. Maycomb is smaller then Cascade, but both towns have lots of gossip. All in all I would say that Cascade and Maycomb are very similar.
Maycomb and Cascade are very similar in that both towns are small and everyone knows each other and their way of life. However, in Maycomb, blacks are considered inferior to whites. Cascade does experience racism, but not in the same way it would have been in a southern state in the 1930s. Maycomb is also the head of its county and so it has a courthouse. Cascade does not have a courthouse. Both towns are big on farming as well. But the farmers in Cascade are not poor because of the depression.
I think that Maycomb and Cascade are very similar. They both are a small town with a main street and the the downtown area with the post office, courthouse, and other stores. Everyone knows everyone in both of our towns. The only difference I know is that in Maycomb African Americans are discriminated against and in Cascade they aren't at all.
Maycomb is very similar to Bernard. They are both small towns where everybody knows who you are. Both Maycomb and Bernard are friendly and welcoming towns. In both towns, there are certain people and or families that have "reputations," that are good or bad. Just like any small town, there is a lot of gossip in both Maycomb and Bernard because of the fact that everybody knows everybody. The main difference between Bernard and Maycomb is that in Bernard, people don't discriminate others and women aren't less important than men. I feel that in a way Bernard is a more welcoming community than Maycomb is.
Bernard and Maycomb are very similar in a lot of ways. Bernard and Maycomb are both small towns but Maycomb is a little bigger. In Bernard and Maycomb everyone knows one another like the good and the bad stuff like Maycomb. Bernard has an elementary but it is very small and Maycomb has one too I would think it would be a little bigger than Bernards. Scene the towns are so little they is not much to do but the kids seem to have fun trying to find out who Boo Radley is. In Bernard there isn't that one person like Boo. another reason why they are similar is because they both have farms. The farms in Bernard aren't poor from the depression like most of the farms in maycomb are.
Maycomb and Cascade are almost the same. They both are small everyone (Almost) knows each others name. However in Maycomb the blacks are looked down on from the whites. Maycomb is the head of the county and has other buildings that Cascade doesn't. Both towns are "farm" towns. However I am sure that farmers in Cascade aren't as poor as those in Maycomb. -Jake Bernal
Cascade and Maycomb are similar in many ways. There both small towns where everyone seems to know everyone and a little bit about their history. In the novel it mentions how some families have higher rankings then others and get treated with more respect. In Cascade there are also popular last names that get more respect and are treated better than others. The towns are also alike because they are both agriculturally based. Cascade has lots of farmers and Maycomb seems to have some too such as the Ewells. Another thing about small towns is everyone seems to know all about someone. Whether you try to keep it your own business, others will eventually find out. Differences between the two towns are few. Cascade doesn't have any racism, that I can tell of, but in Maycomb there tends to be a lot.
Bernard and Maycomb are similar in a few ways. Both are small, close-knit towns where everybody knows everybody. Both towns have important or very respected families. I think Bernard doesn't discriminate as much as Maycomb, and the woman are just as important as the men are.
In the book, you can see many similarities between Cascade and Maycomb, but very few differences. They are both small towns where everyone knows everyone, and everyone's business. There are also many farmers in both areas, but in Maycomb many of them are very poor. In Maycomb, there are many family names that are respected more than the others, as in Cascade. However, the Cascade area does not discriminate towards women or people of color, seeing that everyone is equal.
Bernard is small town and everyone knows everyone, people knows whats going on during everyone life even if you want to keep things to yourself. There is a four way stop and there is only one road to go through Bernard, that comes into and to the stop signs and passed the school. There is always a town gossip, there is always that one person that wants everyone to know what is going on and whats happening.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb seem to be about the same. They are both small towns, Maycomb may be even smaller than cascade. One difference between cascade and Maycomb are the people. We don't have as many African Americans. We don't have a "Towns square" or courthouse in the center of cascade.
ReplyDeleteThe area where we live in and Maycomb are alike in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb is like Cascade in many ways.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb can be a lot like Cascade at times.
ReplyDeleteWell one way they are alike is that everyone knows eachother's business, and in both towns last name carries a lot of weight. One way I feel they are different is I feel Cascade is just a bit more interactive with the community, we have more festivals and town days, that there is a lot more stuff to do in Cascade than Maycomb, and the people are nicer in Cascade. Both towns are actually a lot alike in the social aspect.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb share some similarities because they are both very small towns.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb is a lot like Cascade in many ways, it's a small town with not that many people where everyone knows everyone's business.
ReplyDeleteThere are several comparisons with Maycomb and Cascade.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb have some differences also.
ReplyDeleteI think that Maycomb and the Cascade area are a lot alike in many ways.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb can also be different for reasons too.
ReplyDeleteIn the novel, the main town Maycomb is similar to Cascade. Dubose.
ReplyDeleteThese two towns are very similar some ways.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade are quite similar towns.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade are very much a like.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb reminds me a lot of Cascade; because I am not originally from here, I have a different perspective of the social ways of the community. Both towns are small communities heavily reliant on the agricultural industry. Cascade is a tight knit community, everyone seems to know every detail, good or bad, about their neighbors' lives. It doesn't take long for rumors to start, spread, and morph until they are more fantasy than fact.
ReplyDeleteIt is also very evident who the "it" families are here and in Maycomb.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade have many similarities.
ReplyDeleteAll of this comes together with people thinking they know each other, people in both towns are accused of knowing others.
ReplyDeleteThe two communities also have their contrasts.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Maycomb and Cascade are similar in many ways.
ReplyDeleteThere are also a few differences between the towns.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade have quite a few similarities and differences.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade have few similarities.
ReplyDeleteI feel that Maycomb and cascade are more similar to each other than they are different. Both Maycomb and Cascade are very small towns. In both towns there are families known for their money, and there are those who are known for being more on the poor side. Also, everyone knows everyone in town. Along with that, everyone knowds everyone else's business in town.
ReplyDeleteOne difference between Maycomb and Cascade is that maycomb is described as more run down or "unfinished." The roads in Maycomb are not paved, but simply made of dirt.
ReplyDeleteIn many ways Maycomb and Cascade have many similarities as long with some differences.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Bernard are very similar, they both close-nit towns where everyone knows everyone.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade have a teeming amount of similarities.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade are alike and different in many ways.
ReplyDeleteThe two towns also have their differences.
ReplyDeleteI find the small town of Maycomb to be quite similar to Cascade.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Maycomb and Cascade have many similarities and very few differences.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Maycomb and Cascade are similar, they do have a couple differences.
ReplyDeleteThere are many things that are similar between Maycomb and Cascade.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are very similar.
ReplyDeleteThe town of may-comb Alabama and cascade are very slimier and very different because of the times for example, as racism is a big thing in May-comb there is still probably still racism in cascade but diverted from African Americans to Mexican Americans.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are similar because Maycomb is just about as small as Cascade.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are very similar towns in that they are both very small.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are very alike. Everyone seems to know each other. They are both vey small and agriculture is a very big thing to both towns. Maycomb experiences severe racism, as to in Cascade I don't see much racism.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Maycomb are very alike is many ways. Everyone seems to get alone and know each other. They are both really small towns but Cascade isn't racist and Cascade isn't separated like blacks or whites. These two towns Cascade and Maycomb very rarely change. Also everyone knows each others business and has to be in the drama.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are very similar in many aspects.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Bernard are a lot alike because everyone knows everyone in Bernard and a lot of the people in Bernard believe strongly in a certain thing and its hard to change peoples ways of thinking. On the other hand the people of Bernard are very welcoming compared to that of Maycomb. We welcome people no matter what skin color or religion. So in conclusion they are more alike than different.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are very similar, yet also very different.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade are very similar in that both towns are small and everyone knows each other and their way of life.
ReplyDeleteI think that Maycomb and Cascade are very similar. They both are a small town with a main street and the the downtown area with the post office, courthouse, and other stores. Everyone knows everyone in both of our towns. The only difference I know is that in Maycomb African Americans are discriminated against and in Cascade they aren't at all.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb is very similar to Bernard.

ReplyDeleteBernard and Maycomb are very similar in a lot of ways.
ReplyDeleteMaycomb and Cascade are almost the same.
ReplyDeleteCascade and Maycomb are similar in many ways.
ReplyDeleteBernard and Maycomb are similar in a few ways. Both are small, close-knit towns where everybody knows everybody. Both towns have important or very respected families. I think Bernard doesn't discriminate as much as Maycomb, and the woman are just as important as the men are.
ReplyDeleteIn the book, you can see many similarities between Cascade and Maycomb, but very few differences.
ReplyDeleteBernard is small town and everyone knows everyone, people knows whats going on during everyone life even if you want to keep things to yourself. There is a four way stop and there is only one road to go through Bernard, that comes into and to the stop signs and passed the school. There is always a town gossip, there is always that one person that wants everyone to know what is going on and whats happening.
